Annual report 2017/2018 | 2019

Dear Friends and partners of Keep The Dream196,
What an AMAZING year we have had. What an incredible 10years we have had serving the   children, families and communities of Limpopo and Acornhoek. What an extraordinary journey it has been from such humble beginnings, please allow me to reminisce during this report so that you can agree with me, it certainly has been an amazing journey.

My name Emmanuel, I am 19yrs of age and I started Scout in Bodwe in 2014 but I never joined, I thought it was stupid. In 2015 I ran away from home and basically school and went to the streets. I came back in to Bodwe as a Gangster. As a Gangster I was attacking people, robbing them, and threatening them with knives and a gun. I did this for two years.

My name is Casius, I am 17yrs old soon. I started Scouts at Bodwe Village in 2016.

Before I joined the program I was very bullied by a lot by my friends, I was not naughty but I was bullied a lot.

Scouts has changed my life, it taught me how do things in the right way, how to live with other children. It taught me how to respect others; it taught me how to be clean and to look after myself.

Before I joined KTD196 I lived with my mum, my aunt, my granny and my siblings. I was a very naughty boy and was always disobedient and jumping out of home to go to the streets with my friends. We would always go to the shabeens and drink the beer left in the bottles behind the taverns, also pick up stompies of cigarettes and smoke them. We would come home early in the morning or in the middle of the night then go to school and fall asleep.

Future plans | 2018

This report is going to be a bit different in that I need your advice! In the past when we have approached our target I have, under advice from GlobalGiving, just increased the target figure but I have realised that this is probably not fair to our partners because you think we are close and then the goal posts move.

ho! ho! Its off to camp we go! |2018

YIPPEEEEEE we received some funding to go camping during the school holidays. The kids are so excited,We received $100 from the microproject to put towards the camp so that is great as well.

The weather has turned hot 39C today and 42C tomorrow but that does not affect the enthusiasm for camp at all.
