How can we help?

There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved with KTD 196:

•We offer a limited number of spaces for volunteers to come and stay with us and experience the work we do first hand. We can organize short stays or extended periods, depending on your needs.

During the morning you will work in the office and in the afternoon you will go out to one of the 120 villages in which we work and assist with various programs depending on your interests.

Included would be a short stay in a local village, and going house to house with Home Based Care volunteers as they serve their communities. You will experience local Sotho and Shangaan culture and work alongside our regular volunteers.

The proceeds of this program help support the activities of Keep The Dream196 and those of the community with whom you stay or visit and work with. This experience is geared towards GAP students and those of you who are considering a career in development, or those who have a heart to serve others and learn about new cultures.

•Another opportunity is to sponsor Mark McNamara as he cycles from Kampala in Uganda to Cape Town in South Africa. We already have several schools involved, please contact us to learn more.

•Other opportunities include holding morning teas or helping fundraise on our behalf. Proceeds can be deposited directly via the ‘donate’ button on this site or through the following:
oIf you reside in Australia, we have contacts with Mercedes College who have agreed to act as funding conduits and are able to give tax receipts for any donations made.
oFor those of you in South Africa, Keep The Dream 196 is registered as a Charitable Organization and we can give you tax receipts directly.

To give you an idea of what your donation can do:

  • $10 for one child to attend Scouts for a whole year
  • $15 for 1kg of seeds for the Food For Life project to support 25 gardens for 6 months
  • $32 for 1kg of seeds for the Food For Life project to support 50 gardens for 6 months
  • $40 for 400 investiture badges for 400 children
  • $50 for 50 scout scarves to be given to the children
